Benefits of Fasting

I successfully finished my 10 day fast. There was a moment I contemplated extending it to twenty-one days, but I would have withered away. I dropped five pounds. Being this thin is not ideal. Unfortunately it’s the nature of this business. As a model, I need to look a certain way. I could go on and on about this particular struggle; I’ll leave it for another time.
Benefits of Fasting:
n. Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement.

When you learn to say no to things, it builds strength in your character. Most of us live in a world with endless amounts of choices and resources. We want it, we get it. When we can learn to live in simplicity and not overindulge, we can gain clarity.
n. Clearness of thought or style; lucidity.
Life can get noisy. Dealing with work, people, decisions, pressures, goals, judgements, worries, concerns, planning and family, amongst other things, can overwhelm us. The burden of life can get stuffy.
When fasting, your thoughts become clear. You begin to move those loud, undesirable noises to the side.
n. The ability to deal with difficult situations or to maintain a moral or intellectual position.
When you make a sacrifice, in order to grow closer to the Lord, He can bless you with an incredible amount of strength. I could not have done this on my own. Some can, but there’s a beauty in surrendering to Christ and seeing what He can do in you and through you.
I was struggling with a sin that was taking hold of me. My thoughts went dark, guilt and shame filled me. When God called me to fast He gave me the chance to lean on Him, to Trust that He can do the impossible. He did. I haven’t slipped. Understand this, I am human. There is a huge chance I will stumble again. Through this learning experience I now know, when that happens I need to dig into the Word and look to Jesus for renewal. For Him to make me white as snow.
n. An act of communion with God, a god, or another object of worship, such as in devotion, confession, praise, or thanksgiving.
When strengthening your relationship with Christ you realize you’re in constant communication with him. Prayer is much more than reciting words; it’s an opportunity to connect with Jesus. He is always there to listen.
There are many health benefits to fasting. When you give your body a rest from spending most of its energy breaking down heavy foods you can begin to see enhancements; glowing skin, bright eyes, boost in immune system, boost in metabolism, it also promotes weight loss. Your skin will clear, but you might need to be patient. Your body is detoxing so all the junk will come out. Continue drinking plenty of water along with different types of fruits and vegetables and you’ll be feeling and looking great in no time.
Your body is your temple. Take care of it. Try to be sensitive to what God is calling you to do in your life. It may or may not be fasting at this moment, but He’s talking to you every day, trying to guide you-if you’re willing to follow.
